The following hotels and villas in Martinique are reviewed on this page: [Hotel Plantation Leyritz] [Habitation Lagrange] [Manoir de Beauregard] [Pierre et Vacances]

Is anywhere in the Caribbean more glamorous or romantic than the island of Martinique, the home of Rum St James and the Empress Josephine? It is a departement of metropolitan France, and has French currency, French cuisine and shopping, gendarmes and French-style roads (and driving). The French came here in the early 17th century and, unlike the Dutch and English, they are still here. Vive la France!

Hotel Plantation Leyritz
Situated at Basse-Pointe on the extreme north of the island but on the Atlantic side, this is a converted 18th century sugar plantation house with many of the 60 rooms in the old plantation buildings plus a restaurant, pool and tennis court. To go to the hotel's website, click here...

Habitation La Grange
Situated near the village of Marigot, on the north coast, this former plantation house has been converted into a romantic luxury hotel, complete with four-poster beds. There are 16 rooms in the main house and a number of colonial-style bungalows.
Although situated in the country, the hotel boasts two private islands, which guests can visit or stay at, as they wish. To go to the hotel's website, click here...

Manoir de Beauregard
With only 24 rooms this hotel is not luxurious but very comfortable. The building is also a restaurant-inn and the emphasis is on wholly Creole and French cuisine especially at the Sunday buffets
It is situated on the Rue des Salines on the south-east coast of the island near the town of St Anne, one of the prettiest in the whole Caribbean with its local market, restaurants and craft shops and is only a short drive from two excellent beaches.

Ideal for families - and for parents young and old who are looking for a sporting, activity-filled holiday 165 rooms and situated on the beach at Ste-Luce (the other, with 54 appartments and studios, is at Diamant close by) in the south of the island.  To visit the group's web-site, click here…
