Guadeloupe is
actually 2 islands joined together in the shape of a butterfly.
Basse-Terre is the larger with mountains and primeval rain forest;
Grande-Terre contains the main port and commercial center, Point-a-Pitre,
the airport, the ferries to the offshore islands, and most of the best
beaches and tourist hotels. Like its sister island, Martinique, it is a
departement of metropolitan France, and has French currency, gendarmes,
and French-style roads.
Auberge
de la Vieille Tour
Situated
near the center of Le Gosier, close to the town of Point-a-Pitre and 10
minutes from the international airport, this 181-room hotel is built
round an 18th century windmill in six acres of tropical gardens, and
overlooks the sea. Excellent French restaurant in the hotel and good
spot for fish at the Ajoupa restaurant on their beach. To go to the
hotel's website, click here...

a cruising yacht. But to really appreciate these islands book overnight

cuisine. Or both. No website, but to book call 00 590 995099 (fax
