Antigua (and its
small sister, Barbuda) is blessed with some of the best beaches in the
Caribbean - allegedly 365 - one for every day of the year. The island is
the first destination of transatlantic flights from Europe and very
often the jumping-off point for flights and yacht cruises to the smaller
islands of the northern Caribbean. The picturesque and historic English
Harbour in the south-east was a naval base in Nelson's time, and is the
center for Antigua's famous sailing week in April each year.
